Sienna Miller's early career as an actress

Sienna Miller

  • Born: 28 December 1981
  • Birthplace: New York, New York

Sienna Miller's early career as an actress was both aided and overshadowed by the fame she attained in 2005 as movie star Jude Law's fianceƩ. She met Law while the two were co-starring in the 2004 film Alfie; their relationship kept tabloid writers busy, especially after Law confessed to an affair with the nanny of his children from a previous marriage. Meanwhile, Miller had gone from a short-lived TV series (2003-04's Keen Eddie) to roles in the films Layer Cake (2004, starring Daniel Craig) and Casanova (2005, starring Heath Ledger). Law and Miller announced a break-up in July of 2005, got back together within a year, then broke up again in late 2006. By 2007 Miller had moved into bigger movie parts, including a starring roles in Factory Girl (as Andy Warhol colleague and model Edie Sedgwick) and Interview (co-starring and directed by Steve Buscemi).

American-born, Miller was raised in both the U.S. and England.

Biography

With a mother who ran London's famed Lee Strasberg drama school -- and being the sort of knockout blonde beauty adored by the cameras -- it was not surprising that Sienna Miller eventually gravitated to an acting career. Born in New York to an American banker father and a mother who was always associated with the arts, young Miller received her primary education at the Heathfield School in Ascot, Surrey, before pursuing acting at New York's Lee Strasberg Institute. Her feature debut in the 2002 drama Joy Rider found the emerging actress caught in the middle of a heated love triangle, and after essaying a role in a BBC television drama Bedtime in 2001, Miller crossed the pond to appear on the stateside series Keen Eddie.

Early life

Miller was born in New York City on December 28, 1981 and moved with her family to London, England when she was a year old. She went to Francis Holland Junior School, from when she was 4 to 11. She attended Heathfield St Mary's School, a boarding school in Ascot, Berkshire and later studied for a year at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City.

Personal life

Miller's relationship with the Alfie co-star Jude Law, was constantly featured in the entertainment press. On Christmas Day of 2004, they became engaged. On July 8, 2005, Law issued a public apology to Miller for having an affair with the nanny of his children. Despite attempting to salvage their constant on/off relationship, Miller and Law finally separated the following November.

Acting

In her early career, Miller performed in several amateur New York City plays including The Striker, Independence, and Oscar-winning director Anthony Minghella's Cigarettes & Chocolate.

In 2006, it was announced that Miller would design a fashion capsule for Pepe Jeans; the project was later expanded to become a complete fashion label. Called Twenty8Twelve, it gets its name from Miller's date of birth and is financially backed by Pepe Jeans.[6] The collection, which Miller designed with her sister Savannah, a professional fashion designer, launched in September 2007.[7]
