What makes Slumdog Millionaire rich?-PICS,PHOTOS,WALL PAPERS,NEWS

Time magazine calls it a `buoyant hymn to life, a movie to celebrate` and today we have something special for those who`re waiting for Slumdog Millionaire to hit Indian shores and for fans of director Danny Boyle!

Stiched together in the vast expanse of Mumbai`s slums Slumdog is based on the book Q and A written by Indian author Vikas Swarup.

It follows the tale of former slum dweller Jamal Malik who has now entered the finals of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, a gameshow hosted by an impressive Anil Kapoor.

Jamal`s successful streak on the show (and his history) attracts the attention of the show organisers, the host and the cops! He`s then accused of cheating and is soon taken for interrogation - where a terrifyingly brilliant Irrfan Khan has enough beast in him to pass electricity through the youngster`s toes!
The interrogation then continues to explain Jamal`s history in the slums. The trash heap where the boy ekked out a living and the filth that toughened up one of the most inspiring products of Indian persistence.

Slumdog Millionaire is without doubt one of the best films ever made -period. It packs a feel good plot, a gritty narrative and yes, Danny Boyle himself. The director`s claim to fame includes groundbreaking movies such as the cult hit Trainspotting, the post-apocalyptic zombie horror 28 Weeks Later and yes, the sci-fi Sunshine.

Boyle is known for his pursuit to bring in perfection - he`s after all the guy who shut down rush-hour London for that frightening sequence in 28 Days Later, where actor Cillian Murphy walks down a desolated city center of one of the world`s busiest capital cities.

Slumdog has those impressive sequences too, and everything else that gives it a Boyle badge. A camera on steroids, heart-rending terrain, wonderfully sketched characters and one man`s struggle to keep his head above the water. All told in this pacey, heady mix that`s cinema Boyle style!

The film stars miracle find Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, Freida Pinto as the gorgeous love interest Latika and an unforgiving Irrfan Khan. It has already won an incredible 21 awards worldwide and 17 other nominations including, four Golden Globes (best director for Danny Boyle, Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best original score by AR Rahman and best screenplay by Simon Beaufoy).

AR Rahman`s thumping background score has gained critical acclaim, long due for a composer who redefined the way India moves on a dance floor. The Mozart of Madras now has his name being considered for the Oscars and is also serious competition in the Golden Globes list of nominees.

So, is this a movie you need to watch? Hell, yeah! This is recommended material and the Sify Movies Desk feels Slumdog Millionaire is for all those who need to rediscover hope!

#5 Naomi Campbell

Yes, Earth Kitt`s gone. But her Catwoman will be immortalised forever and roams the earth in the form of Naomi Campbell. Get set for a New Year brawl!

#4 Lindsay Lohan

Does one need a reason as to why not to party with Lohan? Disney`s wild-child has Catfight and DUI on her list of to-do-things tonight. Want a ride?

#3 Britney Spears

She`s mellowed down and is working her way back to the top with an awesome comeback. She parties less and works hard. But if you do jiggy with her when she`s letting her hair down, you`re bound to get a warning. No, not from the cop, not your mom but of all the people in the world, the lousy rapper and ex-husband, K-Fed!

#2 Amy Winehouse

There are a number of things this soul-stirring singer could do. She could either throw up on your designer wear after a drinking binge or give you one tight slap. You`d be lucky if she chooses to dance topless instead.

#1 Tom Cruise

You never know when he’d start jumping on your couch. He could even ruin all your favourite numbers with a godawful Karaoke version. If given a choice, we`d opt for his Elvis impersonation...it`s a safer bet.

Ultimate fantasy bodies-HOLLYWOOD ACTRESS BODY SHOW-VERY HOT

The UK`s ‘ultimate fantasy body’ has a name—and no it`s not an Aston Martin! Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole won the top vote in a poll carried out by YouGov. The 25-year-old won the survey commissioned by slimming aid Zotrim after she raked in 15 per cent of the votes and destroyed what remains of Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham, Coleen McLoughlin and the other WAGs (wives and girlfriends of footballers) and celebrities.

The vote also marks a departure from the size zero debate after 11 per cent thought Nigella Lawson was a definite choice. Here’s the entire list:

Tied at No 2—Dannii Minogue: Thunder from down under

Eleven per cent voted for Kylie`s younger sister and this is far from surprising because a Playboy issue featuring Danii sold out in under four days. The singer is currently a judge on the X Factor and is part of a number of other reality shows. She was also a judge on Australia`s Got Talent—we couldn`t agree more!

Tied at No 2—Nigella Lawson: Hottest dish there is

Sometimes referred to as the `queen of food porn` for her overtly sexual presentation of her famous cookery show, Nigella was on every guest list following the success of her cookery books. Nigella Bites, Nigella Feasts and the latest, Nigella Express, have become hot favourites on kitchen shelves worldwide. And with 11 per cent of the votes, it seems she is on people’s minds, too.

No 3—Melanie Brown: Not that scary now is she?

Scary Spice took home nine per cent of the votes and that could just make Posh smash the China at home. After the Spice Girls` split, Mel B’s solo career did miles better than the other girls’—her debut Hot hit #4 on the charts after its release. She is now dating Stephen Belafonte, a movie producer.

No 4—Madonna: Body of evidence

Looks like the list came with a spot for the elderly. Madonna at 49 is still sexy and five per cent of voters have nodded their head to that. By employing a strict exercise regiment and diet control, Guy Ritchie`s wife (and tormentor), seems to have dusted the sands of time from her face (and those legs) to achieve the impossible—beating Elizabeth Hurley, who is to our angst, missing from the poll altogether!

No 5—Lilly Allen: You can smile now!

Her single Smile climbed to the top of the charts in July 2006 and held ground for a long while. The Welsh singer is also very vocal in her opinions and frequently takes digs at drug lord Amy Winehouse. She even once said that anyone who buys Paris Hilton`s debut album `must be killed off`. We liked her immediately! Some beauty, some talent and an attitude that kills.

Actress Jennifer Aniston rushed to rescue a dog after she spotted the pet wandering lost and alone.

The former Friends star was driving to her California home when she spotted the dog, reports Contactmusic.

The actress hopped out of her vehicle when she noticed the lone husky running down a busy Beverly Hills road and managed to coax the pooch to the curb.

Pop star Cher joins LA’s elephant fight

Pop star Cher has raised her voice against the development of a new elephant habitat in Los Angeles.

The singer has also joined the fight to get LA zoo’s most loved elephant Billy relocated.

The Believe hitmaker took part in a protest march along with American TV game show host Bob Barker and Lily Tomlin in a bid to urge the LA city council bigwigs to close down the development of the elephant habitat, and get Billy relocated to the airy zoo.

Tomlin tried to bring light to the fact that the confining habitat is just not adequately big for the gigantic animals.

"The habitat (at the zoo) is simply not big enough, and no habitat, a zoo is big enough for an elephant... They are mammoth and majestic and beautiful and sensitive, and, for generations, we have put elephants in zoos,” Contactmusic quoted Tomlin, as saying.

Tomlin emphasized upon the fact that magnificent elephants need to have long walks every day to have a healthy growth. >[?"Billy himself lives on about a quarter of an acre for more than 20 years and it's just not humane and it's not rational or responsible. Elephants have to walk 30 to 40 miles a day just to keep healthy and that's one of the reasons why they suffer so much in zoos and develop abscesses of the feet and terrible arthritis. They also develop great mental problems; psychologically they're depressed,” Tomlin added.

The couple spilled the beans as they arrived at the Screen Actors Guild awards with daughter Sosie, 16.

HOLLYWOOD NEWS-Kate Beckinsale loves sitting in cars’ passenger seats

Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale has revealed that she does not want to learn how to drive because she likes being in the rear seats of cars.

The Underworld star says that she will never try for a driving licence because she feels that that would take the fun out of car journeys.

She recalled that how mother used to strap her into the back seat of the family car, and drive her for miles, as a teen.

She revealed that her mother would do so whenever she was upset.

Kate even said that she still found it comforting to let someone else do the steering.

"I love to be driven... When I was a teenager and I was miserable or things were difficult, my mom and I would pile into the car and she would drive me. I've always been really chilled by that," Contactmusic quoted her as telling Hollywood Life magazine.

"(Now) I take cabs or friends drive," she added.

‘Unhappy’ Paris goes unnoticed during recent trip

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton reportedly did not seem to be in a happy mood while on a recent trip from Moscow to London, say reports.

Sources have revealed that she remained “quiet and fuss-free” during the four-hour BMI flight, but became visibly anxious upon touching down at Heathrow.

“She was all set to leave the plane but then business class travellers were told they would have to leave via the rear exit due to some sort of problems. She didn’t look best pleased,” the Daily Express quoted a source as saying.

Things even worsened when two guys she thought were waving to her were actually found to be talking about a little known television star behind her.

“‘Hey, it’s you, you off the TV!” the guys said, according to the source.

“Paris was beaming until it became apparent they were talking about the chap behind her, a little known TV presenter called Martyn Andrews, who hosts the shows Russia Today and Euro News,” the source added.

When video killed the radio star it proved to be a good thing for those who had some great pairs of dancing shoes, costumes and moves. It was no more about just the voice and lyrics. Theses artists and their moves set the dance floor on fire as much as their music. Here`s our list of the meanest dancers whom we love to watch and gyrate alongside.

Beyonce

She wasn`t joking about her hit song Bootylicious. Curvaceous, bodacious are the `cious` terms that come to mind as you see this voluptuous singer move across the screen. While she strutted, pranced and rolled about in scorching orange for Crazy in Love, she gave the dessert belle a whole new meaning when she swiveled erotically on the sand in a sequined outfit for Baby Boy.

Ciara

If there`s a kickass hip-hop dancer, then it`s definitely Ciara. She beats all the rest when it comes to energy. This fleet-footed artist might not have the oomph, she might not have the fancy costumes but her hardcore hip-hop hot steps are enough to gravitate the spotlight towards her and churn out enthusiastic Ciara imitators.

Jennifer Lopez

She`s not known for just boosting the butt fetish in women. This once-upon-a-time group dancer who was seen moving in the background of Janet Jackson`s That`s the way love goes made a big splash on the music scene with her hit single If you had my love. Till date no one can shake away that shimmying image in silver to a mix of jazz, house and Latin soul. She followed it up with several other groovy numbers that were sure-fire hits on the dance floor.

Missy Elliott

Tough cookie is a term that would crumble in front of Missy Elliot`s life, accomplishments and why, even her moves. This five-time Grammy award winner lets nothing get in the way, not her abusive childhood, not her weight issues. The hit track Get Ur Freak On is proof. Not convinced? The track begins with a line in Japanese - Kore kara minna de mechakucha odotte... sawagou, sawagou, meaning `From this point, everyone`s going to be dancing recklessly... let`s make some noise, let`s make some noise.` And so everyone did.

Madonna

The Queen of Pop has got to be in this list especially after her record-earning Sticky & Sweet tour. If the top hat, the whip and the corsets and what she did with them aren`t proof, take a look at her Sorry video. The flexi moves in the lavender leotard make you want to be 50 and that hot.

Shakira

There was a spurt of belly dancing classes across the globe once this Colombian hit the screens. Whenever Wherever surged into the veins of even those with two left feet as it took the world by storm. People thudded away on the dance floor till the DJ tired of sitting jobless with no other track to spin. They bumped, they ground, they butted each other but they never gave up on trying to sway like Shakira. The DJ`s went on high alert when Hips Don`t Lie hit the charts.

Fergie

Actually it`s not like she has great moves. She makes great use of space. But what makes her tick is that even the teeniest step is exaggerated and ladled with oomph. Seen the video of Humps?

Britney Spears

The princess of pop strutted right into our hearts in a tiny school uniform while crooning Hit me baby. And she kept at it till we went Toxic with her moves. But by then we were neck deep in loving her saucy numbers that we couldn`t redeem ourselves from the trap of cheesy tracks that (we hate to admit it) are great dance numbers.

Janet Jackson

And no, it wasn`t just Madonna on the 80`s dance front. The youngest Jackson shared it. Janet`s Rhythm Nation is an entire album that`s holy to those who love the dance floor. She however outdid herself with Velvet Rope. Together Again gave way to feel-good moves that still possess us every time a radio station decides to recycle it for one of those Sunday-evenings-at-home.

Vanessa Hudgens

The High School Musical star has danced her way to a fan following clubbed with a great voice. But we must admit that what clinched it was her nude shots that got leaked on to the web.

We wait and watch. Will she too go the way of Britney Spears? A Disney child who shed the s
And of this lot, here`s whom we`d like to see in a dance-off:

Ciara vs Missy Elliott!
