What makes Slumdog Millionaire rich?-PICS,PHOTOS,WALL PAPERS,NEWS

Time magazine calls it a `buoyant hymn to life, a movie to celebrate` and today we have something special for those who`re waiting for Slumdog Millionaire to hit Indian shores and for fans of director Danny Boyle!

Stiched together in the vast expanse of Mumbai`s slums Slumdog is based on the book Q and A written by Indian author Vikas Swarup.

It follows the tale of former slum dweller Jamal Malik who has now entered the finals of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, a gameshow hosted by an impressive Anil Kapoor.

Jamal`s successful streak on the show (and his history) attracts the attention of the show organisers, the host and the cops! He`s then accused of cheating and is soon taken for interrogation - where a terrifyingly brilliant Irrfan Khan has enough beast in him to pass electricity through the youngster`s toes!
The interrogation then continues to explain Jamal`s history in the slums. The trash heap where the boy ekked out a living and the filth that toughened up one of the most inspiring products of Indian persistence.

Slumdog Millionaire is without doubt one of the best films ever made -period. It packs a feel good plot, a gritty narrative and yes, Danny Boyle himself. The director`s claim to fame includes groundbreaking movies such as the cult hit Trainspotting, the post-apocalyptic zombie horror 28 Weeks Later and yes, the sci-fi Sunshine.

Boyle is known for his pursuit to bring in perfection - he`s after all the guy who shut down rush-hour London for that frightening sequence in 28 Days Later, where actor Cillian Murphy walks down a desolated city center of one of the world`s busiest capital cities.

Slumdog has those impressive sequences too, and everything else that gives it a Boyle badge. A camera on steroids, heart-rending terrain, wonderfully sketched characters and one man`s struggle to keep his head above the water. All told in this pacey, heady mix that`s cinema Boyle style!

The film stars miracle find Dev Patel, Anil Kapoor, Freida Pinto as the gorgeous love interest Latika and an unforgiving Irrfan Khan. It has already won an incredible 21 awards worldwide and 17 other nominations including, four Golden Globes (best director for Danny Boyle, Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best original score by AR Rahman and best screenplay by Simon Beaufoy).

AR Rahman`s thumping background score has gained critical acclaim, long due for a composer who redefined the way India moves on a dance floor. The Mozart of Madras now has his name being considered for the Oscars and is also serious competition in the Golden Globes list of nominees.

So, is this a movie you need to watch? Hell, yeah! This is recommended material and the Sify Movies Desk feels Slumdog Millionaire is for all those who need to rediscover hope!
