Titanic girl Kate was married to director Jim Threapleton, with whom she has a daughter, Mia Honey. After the couple's divorce, Winslet dated and married Sam Mendes. They have a son Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes.

Barely recognizable, a vampish Kate Winslet strips off for Vanity Fair

NEW YORK - Kate Winslet pulled off the expected Sunday night,

winning the Academy Award for best actress for her quietly powerful

performance in "The Reader." Winslet was giddy and emotional as she

accepted her trophy.

"I'd be lying if I haven't made a version of this speech before," she said.

"I think I was probably 8 years old and staring into the bathroom

mirror and this (Oscar) would be a shampoo bottle. But it's not a

shampoo bottle now."

She thanked her husband, director Sam Mendes, and their two children.

And she also thanked her father, saying "Dad, whistle or something

'cause then I'll know where you are." He whistled back from his seat

at the Kodak Theatre.

"You just don't think that these dreams that seem so silly and so

impossible could ever really come true," Winslet said backstage.

This is the first Oscar for Winslet, who's been nominated five other

times for her roles in "Titanic,""Sense and Sensibility,""Iris,

""Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Little Children."

But the British actress seemed a shoo-in to win this year: She

gained Oscar momentum after snagging a best supporting actress

award at the Golden Globes for her role as a former Nazi camp

guard in "The Reader," as well as best dramatic actress for her

role as an unhappy housewife in "Revolutionary Road."

Winslet, 33, received more recognition on the awards circuit for

"The Reader." Her portrayal of Hanna Schmitz - a woman having

a passionate affair with a teenager who encounters her again years

later while she is on trial for Holocaust crimes - was raw and

restrained, netting her additional trophies at the Screen Actors

Guild Awards and British Film Academy Awards.

The best-actress category was loaded with strong contenders:

Meryl Streep was another front-runner with her 15th acting

nomination as a prickly nun in "Doubt." Anne Hathaway played

against her wholesome image as a toxic narcissist who leaves

rehab to wreak havoc on her sister's wedding in "Rachel Getting

Married." Angelina Jolie dug deep to portray a mother of a

missing child in "Changeling." And Melissa Leo was powerful as

mom who forges an unlikely friendship in "Frozen River."

Come December, and our magazine covers are trying to ring in something for Santa. And Vanity Fair is no less different. Because, their last issue for the year has a vampish Kate Winslet.

Going by reports, Kate Winslet was quite verbose about her disgust at what airbrushing had done to her womanly curves. Six years on, the mother of two has posed for her most explicit photoshoot yet, sprawled seductive and naked - save for stockings and stilettos - across a fur-covered chaise lounge.

One of the excerpts from the interview includes when she discusses on bridging herself from a fat girl to a famous artist. "I never had a desire to be famous," Winslet said. "I was fat. I didn't know any fat famous actresses. I just did not see myself in that world at all, and I'm being very sincere. You know, once a fat kid, always a fat kid."

The mother of two - Mia, eight, and Joe, five - is currently promoting the upcoming film Revolutionary Road which hits the theatres on December 26th.

The British born celebrity has taken some severe criticism from the tabloid press across the pond. The Sun, the Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail have published banner headlines declaring that the Vanity Fair cover, and other poses from the shoot are the product of heavy airbrushing. One of the publications even brought in an airbrushing expert to pick apart the photographs.

Back in February 2003, Miss Winslet was apologetic when her image was digitally enhanced to make her look slimmer for a GQ magazine shoot. The actress, who had always championed the fuller figure, said then: 'I don't want people to think I was a hypocrite and had suddenly gone and lost 30 pounds, which is something I would never do. And more importantly I don't want to look like that.'

I first saw Leonardo Dicaprio in the movie TITANIC like other million people, though it was not his first movie and he has been acting since his childhood. But Titanic proved to be the biggest blockbuster of all time and only after that movie i started my hunt for his earlier movies and obviously followed his subsequent films. What made him my favorite was the fact the release of that movie many commented that we have a resemblance and l as a teen found a sense of proud to hear that, though now i laugh at that. but the Dicaprio remained one of my favorite new generation actor specially after the movies like Gangs of New York , Catch me if you can, The Aviator, The Departed and Blood diamond to name a few.
DiCaprio’s career took off with his appearing in several commercials and educational films. He got his break on television in 1990 when he was cast in the short-lived series based on the movie Parenthood. After Parenthood, Dicaprio had bit parts on several shows, including The New Lassie and Roseanne, as well as a brief stint on the soap opera Santa Barbara, playing the young Mason Capwell.

His debut film role was Critters 3, a B-grade horror film, which later went straight to video. Soon after, in 1991, he became a recurring cast member on the hit ABC sitcom Growing Pains, playing Luke Brower, a homeless boy who is taken in by the Seavers.

His breakthrough came in 1992, when he beat out hundreds of other boys for the role of Toby Wolff in This Boy's Life, co-starring Robert De Nero and Ellen Barkin. His performance as the troubled, abused teenager was critically acclaimed and Hollywood soon took notice. Later in 1993, he co-starred as the mentally handicapped brother to Johnny Depp in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. His performance earned him both Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for best supporting actor.
The move from "star" to "superstar" came when Dicaprio played Jack Dawson in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, alongside Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater, which soon became the highest grossing film of all time and received 11 Oscars
